Do any of you have trouble getting locust started. I just acquired some over the weekend. It burns great if you load it on top of a bed of coals, but its hard to start in a cool stove. I'm probably doing something wrong, but I'm not sure what. The wood spent the last 2 years in a barn, so I'm assuming it dry....

Prolly just needs more heat than other woods to get going. If it does well on a hot bed of coals, ya gotta just get more kindling and small stuff going under it first.

Very hard to get going by itself, if I'm loading locust in a cold stove with no coals I put some smaller pieces of cherry/poplar/pine in to get it going.
