Not much you can do about it but make the best of it and remember there are people who are truly cold....mainly those Crazy Canadians living in the deep freeze up north. My brother was out in Las Vegas when it snowed a while back. I blamed him for taking Minnesota weathee with him.
Currently 16 out. Burning pine during the day. Hardwood at night. Two of the three stoves are going. 16 outside, 80 (in some areas) inside.
-10 already! Yikes. Boiler just got filled with Ash. Time for bed so I can get up early to feed it some more Ash. Came across a little Maple in the next row as well. You guys stay warm!
Forecast for 0 tonight earlier in the day that changed to -1 sometime this afternoon, and at my house, it's -3 or -4 depending on which eye I close. DV heater has been on for an hour or so, and will stay on until morning. Again. This is turning into Winter 2013 all over again. Boo, hiss.
Currently 12° out. Didn't get a fire going until later than usual, so house temps are going down. Loaded pin oak, hoping it keeps warm in here....
-3 outside. Ash and other hard wood 1/3 of my dial on the daka 521 and 75 in the house. Get to -10 tonight in holt MI. Might put it up to half.
Just woke up as i dozed off around 8 on coal down and just refilled with elm. -9f and friggen chilly in the house right now.
10 degrees here Iowa. Burning red oak and cherry from last july stuff i split. Pic of clayton 1600 burning at 200+( just ramping up after reload). I also added a bbq grill temp sensor so I can read any where in the house. Watching for overburn and when drop in temp for reload. Crate wood pic. I load into basement with jd2320 2008 loader onto carts. 2500 sf house at74.
Nice. My house is only 1100 sqft and the burner i have is designed to heat 2600 sqft. So i can cook my place out.
I don't think we'll break any records but I think tonight will be the coldest night for me this year. Turned on the Eden Pure that I inherited in the other end of the house to keep the pipes warm. Red oak coals are putting out some good heat
Welcome to FHC wood very nice set up you have there. That's funny I'm surprised that screen name was not taken
-20f this morning. This latest cold snap supposed to ease by tomorrow. House is sitting @ 72. Both stove have a good coal bed, so it is just a simple reload and we are good to go. Happy as I am getting 10-12 hr burn cycles on both stoves on hard maple/beech/red oak.
-16 on the back porch. The boiler made 7.5 hours last night. I had to get up early, about 4:30, because the best time to load last night was 9. A steady diet of Ash and today a little Maple to be mixed in. Have a good one today.
The ''January thaw" is beginning....19 last night at 1030PM,put on a huge 9" knotty Green Ash round & a couple smaller Ash splits on then,74 in here woke up at 5 & almost half of it was still burning,in 2 softball sized chunks... 23 outside with no wind for a change. Reloaded with 1 large Silver Maple split & 2 small Green Ash,its back up to 77 in here. Low 30's today, upper 30's Thursday, low to mid 40's Friday through Sunday, back to 30's for next week...
-21 Woke up to 65 in the house. Half load of oak and maple running half wide open to take the chill off and burn down the Bit coal base .
