hello all, I found this forum from a guy on facebook that was wearing a cool sweatshirt with the FHC logo on it.. I had to have one, so I came on joined and purchased one. I live in central Nj along the coast, and recently built a wood fired oven, and installed a wood insert to heat my house. I haven't bought firewood in two years, and don't plan on ever buying again.. I found that if you try hard enough and search and make some calls, you could get as much wood as you could handle, depending on how hard your willing to work of course.. Lol I do all my splitting by hand and have a small 2 cord stash of red oak, beech, maple and hedge. I'm working on getting more for next winter and next summer. The wood oven was used every weekend last summer and sometimes during the week, and it burns a chit ton of wood, so I need a constant supply. I look forward to contributing as much as I can and learning some new tricks along the way..
Welcome to the club, I wonder who you're Facebook friend is-- I am betting it's Scotty Overkill. We are currently working on a FHC cookbook, looks like it might be right up your alley. Also taking submissions for photos for the cover, and the one above would certainly be a candidate!
Thanks! I'm not sure what his name was, I think he was from the firewood cutters group, feel free to use the photo if you like, I've done a fair amount of cooking in the oven, from smoked brisket too obviously pizza and bread. If it wasn't 2 degrees I'd be out there tonight probably.. Lol
