It only takes once. Now he has a good understanding of what you mean by "hot".

On the flip side ours is screwed to the floor with no door. It's a taller plastic one so after leaning my knees on it all last winter to stoke the stove it finally caved in on me. I ended up with bruised ribs.

I know she is old enough to know not to touch it at 3y\o but she gets dancing or running so fast and stumbles and sometimes trips. We are still climbing over ours. Boy do I miss our custom gate with a door at my old house.

That happens jet. It happened to me once at our pediatrician's office! They have a N.G. Fireplace insert in the lobby. I told my littlest one it was hot and Do Not Go Near it! And she knew what hot meant. She listened to me for a while. Then I think she forgot and was playing around. Leaned on with her hand. Luckily it wasn't too bad. But it was bad enough. The office staff and doctor were very opologetic. They took care of her right away of course and sent her a stuffed bear and some flowers not long after we got home. I think they were a little concerned. Next time there, the really nice protective gate was up. Anywho. You can't keep them 100% safe all the time. And they have to learn on there own too. If they don't, they may learn the harder way later on. They know their Dad (you) loves them and takes great care of them!

You know what they say...If you have a boy, you only worry about one Peter in town; have a girl and you'll worry about every Peter in town!

I pity the fool bastards!! Let 'em roll up to my house with a flat bill,,or driving moms car,,LOL,, had one playboy try it this past summer,,rode up on his bicycle wearing a flat bill and says, "Hey, Is Emma home?"
I says, "Boy, lets try this again,,before you roll up on me and ask about my daughter, you'll address me as Mr. Green or Sir, now get off my property and try again",,
The boy looks a little goofy, so I told him again, "Get off my property,,completely off my place and try again" So's he rolls off into the alley and ask,"Is this good?"
"Yeah, that should work", I tells him, he rolls back up to the garage and ask,"Mr Green, is Emma home?" I says, "Boy it aint none of yer' Gotdamm business where my daughter is, now, get off my place and stay gone!!",,so far so good..no more poor hapless snapper heads have come sniffing around.,,

My kids have seen me burn myself loading the stove enough times to know that it isn't to be messed with.

Good to hear. I got lucky the other day mine reached through the gate and grabbed the door when I was starting a fire. At the rate he's going I'll be grey haired or bald by 40.

Wow, it's finally warm out. It's 11 out, without the wind chill. Still better than the -10 low we had last night, and I went out in that to meet a friend at the bar. Just brought in a load of wood from the patio. Oh yeah, the 2" of snow predicted today ended up being a good 4".
Thinking of heading up north to take the snowmobiles out

LOL. No grey hair here yet. But I've been telling my wife I am ready to shave my head bald for several years now. (I'm thinning fairly well as it is and I don't care.) But she says no, please keep your hair as long as you can. :picard:She cares about it. I think it would be comfy, easier, etc. to just shave it. No more hair cuts, just set the setting on the razor and shave it once a month. Oh well. Happy wife.........

Well, caffeine almost all in me. Time to go put the plow on and clean everything up. Then get breakfast all ready for the wife and kids. You guys have a good day and stay safe and warm. :fire:

I'm in the same boat but I have to buzz it to keep it tight ( for work) I don't let the thinning hair part bother me either, it's a part of me at my age, plenty of petrified colored hair ontop as well. Not quite sure I would want to shave it clean, haven't pondered that one yet.

Another day of cold temps. Got called in for work this week, which is really good, but holy cow! the area schools are closed, again. Right now, wind chill is -25 to -35 depending on the wind gust (go figure). Wildwest posted some pics of the weather outside in her neck of the woods a few days back and I'd have to say that it has since moved here. If it wasn't for all our trees, we'd have white out conditions between the snow and wind. Makes for crappy driving.

Good morning, 13 degrees and wind chill advisories.
The daughters are back to school today.
A "suit" left me a voice mail early this morning crying a blue river about "really needing" coverage at a distant clinic. No mention of incentives, no call back, no critical needs money offered up,,,them "suits" have forgotten how to treat a guy...
I'll be playing in my wood shed today.

I got everything cleaned up by 06:30, detached the plow and got breakfast made for wife and kids. It kept snowing the whole time I was plowing and after. By the time I left for work we had another 2-3" on the ground. :picard:
It is still coming down now. The pattern of lake effect snow shifted a little bit north and we got, and are going to get, more than they expected up here. How you making out up there thewoodlands? How much snow have you received in the last 24 hours?

Not chit here Gasifier but they're calling for 7-14.

Potsdam is getting whacked, it's a whole different world 14 miles north of us.

Edit (9:06 a.m. ) The Lake Effect just kicked in, time to put the chains back on the Rhino, snowmobile weather just arrived.

I must be doing something wrong. I put about 100lbs of hedge in the stove again last night and the SOB still didn't melt. Either that, or the hedge is defective.
