That sound you just heard is me opening a can of worms! I'm not trying to start a war of words here just wanted some input. What's your opinion of a choice between a 441 M-tronic and a 461? I hear a lot of good things about both saws and I was wondering if .3 hp. gain is worth the trade-off of the auto-tune.

Never ran a 461. But have ran 441 stock and woods ported. Just saying that give me the 461.

I have a 461 and like it alot....mine is stock and has plenty of power(normally run a 25 inch bar and full comp rs chain)and has a good feel in my hands, not too heavy or bulky for a 76.5 cc saw in my opinion.I also think the rubber av it has works fine and don't have any problems or find myself wishing it was spring av,i think they are both real nice saws but I went with the 461and have no regrets.

The 461 is one of Stihl's better offerings...

No, that is not a can of worms, this is: "What saw should I get, a Stihl or a a Husky?"

    I'd go 461.. But I am a fan of the 460/461 platform.

    For what use? Budget?

Either one will cut wood well. I don't know why the 441 gets dogged on by some, it's a fine saw

Maybe because the 044/440 is a tough act to follow...i like mtronic/autotune but in this instance i say 461 just on the little real world knowledge of the 441c and 461.

Because it's fat and heavier than its predecessor.

Cause to me it feels like a 90cc saw with out the power. I'm glad I never spent money to buy one. I would have been sorely disappointed.

I wouldn't say the 441c is a terrible saw though...They are well made IMO but just big and heavy for 70cc compared to other past and current saws...

Because nobody on chainsaw forums will say you should have gone with the 441. ;)
