What is this, a government purchase? :p ;) That's easily $100+ over budget!

555 from a good dealer might not be much over $500 if any with a 18-20" bar.

Dolmar PS-5105 should be in that price range.

Depends on the bar and chain. I would think for $540 you could have one.

I just got my 2252 (545) today. I think it's okay, but for anything over about 14" I would not recommend it. I think I'll use mine only for wood 10" and under. If the wood is bigger than that, I would get at least a 60cc saw.

Really? Man I've cut red oak 24"+ with my little 023 and a sharp chain. Seems that 2252 should handle with ease.

Depends on what you're used to. I run a ported 70cc for anything over a twig I can break by hand. My dad keeps my 550xp so ithe smallest I have on hand is the 046.

Yup it's all relative. Not to long ago cross cut hand saws cut the biggest timber that has been ever harvested.

Personally I see no use for any saw under 50cc. A good 50cc is very capable and not heavy and if your are patient will cut anything eventually within reason. Once over 16" or so, a bigger saw is warranted. Besides there is no reason to ever fuel or sharpen in the field, just grab another one right?:saw:

Who said CAD doesn't have benefits. :dancer:

I think about it like this. I cut a cookie off this log with my 2252... It took about 30 seconds. Here's how long it took with my Mastermind 7900...
