I stopped at TSC today they have Northeast pellets,I have never seen these before. anyone ever try them?
They're made in Ashland, Maine. The company made a pretty decent pellet, probably the best pellet made in Maine, until a fire destroyed the whole building. That was a number of years ago now. Since they're rebuilt, their pellets are so-so. Not very dense and not a lot of heat. They don't have much local presence up here although I'm seeing them more this year than in recent years.
picked up 4 bags today. just put a bag in ,they look nice . it's a good test for them tonight. Going to be a cold one!
Says less than .5% ash. The "white wood" always cracks me up, I believe Stove Chow puts that on their bags too.
At one point they had a sticker on their bags that said "Made from 100% recycled wood." I had visions of recycled pallets and demo, and I warned people about them. I received several PM's from a user by the name of Northeast Pellets that took exception to my statements but the stickers disappeared after that. This was all on the old site. I called the company and was told they make their pellets from scrap new lumber from sawmills. I've been by their plant several times on my trips up north for work but there never seems to be much activity.
I hope they can get their chit together! Good fiber for a northern pellet. But density really done sucks!!
As mentioned above, a good looking pellet but no heat. Looking like La Crete's isn't the same as being La Crete's.
