He can almost reach 10 & 2, a few more inches of arm length and he'll have it.
Right after that he'll have his tractor permit :)

Ah, the "twin cities". As they call them out there. For me twin cities means Minneapolis. ;)

I gave the wife 5 dollars worth of tickets in with her stocking stuffer things for Christmas. Ended up with nothing from those.

Man O' Man, quiet on here this morning. Everybody is either sleeping in or seized up from the cold. Wouldn't mind staying in this morning but soon time to hike my arse out the door and get to work.
    Brrrrrrrrrrrrr.............Have a good day all.

It's real cold here the wind is making feel like below zero temps.... The blazer fired right up thank goodness but the zipper in the portable garage was frozen shut and had to be heated up to let me in. Then I went to grab the outside vent pipe that we slide over the tail pipe to warm up the car and the damm thing was frozen to the ground and broke. I then proceeded to make coffee that didn't brew because the pot died! This morning sucks lol. got to work later than I like because there was a car going down m21 at 25 mph and not a chance to pass for 8 miles as it's a back highway that gets busy at 5am...:coffee: ugh I quit today! I want tomorrow lol....

Good morning, was 18 and still snowing last time I looked. About 3 or 4 inches of snow fell last nite/this morning.
I'm gonna' eventually make it out of doors for some snow blowing.
New neighbor across the street is on the road trucking, I'll snow blow his drive in case his young wife needs to get out.
The greedy hungry owb held a great fire yesterday, had stuffed the bastard full Sunday night and still throwing heat at 3p.m. yesterday,,I'm in NO hurry to get outside.

    Rant alert.

Last night after work I stacked a row of hedge in the back of my truck for some extra traction this AM and to take up to the house for the next few nights. In the parking lot at work a guy notices and tells me that I "can't burn that...it will melt my stove". Sadly he was serious.

I smiled and replied "well I must have a good stove because I've ran about 50 truckloads thru it the past 5 years and it isn't a puddle on the floor yet". He shook his head and walked away.

Maybe it's because I'm a "suit" at work or look like I'm 23 (but really I'm 33)....or both...but at face value I apparently have 0 wood burning cred.

Same thing happens whenever I buy something and tell them I'm going to install/build/repair it myself...or pay cash for it...they look at me like I've lost my mind. Really disappointed in my generation right now. Don't know what to do about it either.

    Rant over.

    WARNING! Adding to your rant

I think they are use to "men" who think too much of themselves to do manual labor.

The thing that impresses my wife is that I do everything around the house (new lights, hang siding, put a new window in, insulate, etc.). I've only called a plumber in once when I was building our bathroom. I didn't have the saw to cut into the existing cast iron sewer pipe and it was cheaper to have them do it then rent the saw. She is your age and every"man" she dated before me had no idea how even change a flat tire let alone do light construction.

Her sister's husband is a perfect example of it. Too busy playing video games and surfing the 'net to get his hands dirty. Sad.

This is why I buy things like brake pads and rotors for my sons and make them change them (with my help of course), rather then giving them money to get it repaired. I hope the skills will come to other men their age after they grow up some more, but I too am worried.

Being tech smart is great! But not knowing how (or being unwilling) to do manual labor is truly shameful no matter whether you are blue collar or white collar.

    .

I know exactly how you feel.. I go to my day job at a software company and come home to cut wood, work on the house, tineker with electronics, work on the car, woodwork, build models, etc.

I find it even harder as I'm restoring an antique 1700's house and whenever I go to lengths to restore and retain the original hand made woodwork and old wooden windows and doors and floors - I have to listen to people tell me I'm an idiot and should save time by just ripping it all out and replace it with Vinyl or some other prefab junk. Vinyl as a building material is the work of the man downstairs, IM[not so]HO.
