So last night we had company over and I was letting the stove die down a bit since there were more people in the house and we were all moving around. At one point my wife said "could you put some more wood in the stove its starting to get chilly in here" our guests looked at her like she was crazy they were all taking off sweaters and rolling up their sleeves. I looked at the stove it was sitting nicely at 450* and the thermometer in the hall was around 72* so Im guessing the stove room was probably closer to 76*+. I had to explain to her that not everyone likes it 80+* in their house. She just smiled and said I guess Ill put on a sweater then.
Seems most of us share that same problem. A good problem to have in my opinion. Everywhere we go, the wife and I are freezing. . But I guess it's not the norm to heat a home above 70°.
People know to layer when they come to our house. I try to moderate, but when there is a gathering here, it generally also involves a lot of cooking. Couple that with even a warm wood stove, and there is usually a window open. They also know to come hungry.
My wife says she is cool, more wood goes into the stove. As for company, let them feel what a warm home is like! I just love it when someone comes into our house and even before the door is closed they are commenting on how warm it is in here.
I use to keep the storeroom in the 75-80 range but with the little one running around I've had to drop to 70-75. Poor guy breaks out in sweat.
