I got the same look at lowes looking for one. Had at least three different young employees point me in the wrong direction, then a manager spend half an hour looking, and finally they asked an old guy in the lumber department and he knew exactly what I wanted and where it was
Did you check a fresh split face?..5% is way low...also you have to push the prongs in abit..not jus touch the face..
I messed around with my MM yesterday when I was splitting. Nice to have at least a general idea of what the moisture level is.
I could not agree more. Even though I know the wood is dry and has been seasoning for 2 to 3 years it is still nice to know what the moisture content is.
Would it be an accurate read to test a fresh saw cut from a tree? I'm thinking the saw heat/ friction from cutting might give a reading that is a little low? Idk. I don't even own a meter yet, but I'm thinking ahead for when I cut more down, and we don't have a splitter available regularly, yet.
