Temperature dropping, wind picking up and snow is falling so I restocked my basement rack with mulberry and elm and sitting back to watch a movie by the stove.

    Life is good.

using the sherwinn williams brand for Kilz on the floor. Phew, this is way stinkier than paint! Hard to use good ventilation with the temp @ 5* outside.

Just let Bear out. When he came back in he looked like a sugar coated 115lb. cruller. Snowing like a bandit about 4" so far.

High of 45 today, turning colder when wind will be out of the North. Lows around 15 for a few nights. Glad I found out the problem with my furnace not heating as hot as it used to. The grates were plugging off some, from ash and coals, restricting the stoker fan from firing up the firewood like it aught to! All better now. Just in time!

Yeah, well, there aren't a whole lot of 'em up there!! I've been getting my hair cut at the same place since the mid 70's,,I ask my barber if i got a discount since i'm 1/2 bald and she told me I'm lucky she doesn't charge me double for a "finders' fee"!! Real Barbers in that shop,,they still use a straight razor to trim around your ears and back of the neck with hot shave cream!!

I think I am disgusted if I am correct. I think the stinky smell is from getting cat urine in the subfloor wet from kilz. :hair:

    Eeew

:dremel: We removed the flooring, base boards, basically everything including paneling. I had no idea the floor would stink if it was wet again. SOOOOO glad we kilzed it. Glad lil one is not here to learn what that smell is, NOT FUN.

Ha! Had a friend that had cats peeing on his carpet, and it soaked to the subfloor. He had the same experience when using kilz. Sounds like a bad job to do with the house all closed up.

It's 11 pm here and I have maybe 1/8th of the floor left to do. This house was a rental before we moved into it last year, we heard stories from neighbors about renters leaving animals in here unattended for a week or so at a time. It broke my heart for the animals but wow, had no idea it could do so much damage to the floor. Going to keep at it :)

PS, pellet stove almost on high speed, windows cracked, not too bad but I have a good nose. :)rofl: :lol  Only took me till hubby painting the first 1/2 of the floor to realize it was cat urine ammonia and not the kilz smell  )

WW, sure this is too late but....
Moved into my place, thought they'd sheltered Yak's or something here. Was pretty bad. Actually complained about it to the neighbors before we bought it. Turned out the neighbors "lost" it to foreclosure, yeah that was awkward for a while.
Subfloor- run a flooring sander over it and vacumn like your life depended on it. Every nook and cranny. Then pour on the Kilz. 2- coats min., may be 3 coats.
Just get that loose leaf sub-floor particulate out of there before you try to seal it with the Kilz.

Good morning, a cool and dark 45 degrees. The weather guessers are calling for more wet stuff and big temp drop to 10 degrees tonight!
Gonna' be a fun ride home from the workhouse tonight at 8p.m. and I'll guess the Emergency Room will be a full tilt mad house when everything starts freezing!!
I better stop on my way to work and get a can of that double espresso, "liquid cocaine" for an end of the shift power booster.
