I am glad you guys enjoyed the pics. I know I sure enjoy the pics all of you post. They're almost as good as being there. So here are a couple more. One with buddy on the ground. LOL And one of the fresh cut, dead standing, Hedge, that measured 14% on my moisture meter, burning that evening in my little Hampton.
That is super Chief. I hope this storm has not dropped any ice or snow on you. Wet, well, that will dry but ice and snow can make cutting a bit testy.
Not yet Dennis, but still coming it looks like. Sure glad we got those 2 loads yesterday. I don't think I have every cut any dead standing that was as dry as that hedge was. Heck it is like 4 year old seasoned stuff. But then it looked like it had been dead for 20 years. Anyway, I sure wish I would have covered it before this storm came in because it is absolutely ready to burn and a lot of it is small rounds that do not need split. the load I put on last night left more coals in the morning than anything I have ever put in that little Hampton.
I hear you Chief. Sometimes I'd be curious to find out what the moisture content is in that elm we just finished cutting. For certain it could easily be burned right after cutting; at least the top 2/3 of the tree. I remember several years we weren't ahead and burned only dead elm. None of it had bark on and we cut and stacked on the porch to burn right away. No problem with that stuff.
I agree Chief. That's the reason I've never considered buying one. I can tell if the wood is dry enough to burn without a meter; especially when it is like this:
Good stuff chief. Bet the little fella will have a great long life. Ya know there was a little room left in the Hampton to stuff another round in eh!
Another load of Ash this past weekend. No hedge this time but some pretty dense, dry mystery wood. It was a little reddish on the inside of a split, flakey bark and a small tree. I think maybe Crabapple or Hawthorn. Anyway a few pics. Buddy was there, in the foreground of pic # 2. Notice my grandson in his PPE
Oh, he is for sue. He absolutely loves going to the woods! His Mommy isn't to impressed with the stick tights and cockle-burs though.
Oh, I think I can manage, you know it's nice to have a backup Funny when I joinined the other forum 2 1/2 years ago , I only had 1 saw ,my eager beaver
