He was a very consistent small core area killable deer till the rut hit. I got close to getting him but am just as tickled my friend got him.
I usually check the chickens in the evening, and just about every evening during the summer and into Sept. and when I wasn't hunting in Oct. he would be in the field behind the chicken coop. The only thing he was inconsistent about was where he hit the field. The field is about 30 acres total and he would enter it in about 6 different locations. He got harvested in the rock field which is next to the field behind the chicken coop. He was chasing a doe. The rut is in full swing here. I saw a buck tending a doe that drove off a 3 point. yesterday and two different bucks chasing another doe. Of course, the field I hunted tonight had 21 does and a scrub buck in it when my buddy shot and no rut activity evident.
Bear season comes in here in PA on Saturday, buck season is December 2nd.....I'm getting stoked seeing all these deer on here!! Congrats to your buddy, that's a dandy for sure!!
