All is well... It does this sometimes and I've learned what to do. Open the bypass till temps fell to 1300ish.. Then open the lid and kicked down the load with my ash rake. There was a lot of hot coals piled up right at the cat intake and I raked those away. Now I reengaged and its settled down to a nice stable 1250.

18 deg outside tonight, the IS is working hard. Looking forward to some decent coals in the am.
Tonight is a testing night of sorts. Running full oak...

I hit 800+F on the cheap stove top thermo. Gonna check gaskets in the morning once cool, but I think I just reloaded on too many coals. Nice full load of oak expecting overnight teens (they are right now)... so many wasted BTUs. :(

On the bright side I got lots of tractor and wood lot time in today when the MIL offered to watch the kids for the day. All the uglies are split, which is a chore I do not enjoy. Full wood crates by the porch, dog dish holder primed and painted, and the new saw buck has 2 coats of stain waiting for assembly. Also tossed the rope to the dogs for about 2 hours, or so it seemed. Stuffed chicken breasts for dinner, and I can't go to bed until this stove relaxes.

Yes, getting all sorts of weird smells and cruising at 800F with full secondaries getting more aggressive. I opened the door with the air wide open, 700F or so now.

Bout 8 here this monin. The Liberty had a nice bed of coals this morning after 8 hrs, and it took right off with a couple 4" splits. Toasty down there now.

Edit: Just went outside long enough to really feel it, when I went down and stood by the stove. I almost feel sorry for anyone who has never felt that kind of heat from a woodstove... :fire:

12 degrees here today. A couple quick things to wrap up for work and I'm off until Friday.

The kids are staying at my parent's tonight. Making a steak dinner for me and the wife...then up the road to for card game and boozing tonight.

Funny. We bought a portable net this year for Christmas that you can attach to a regular table. We set it up on the kitchen table and played some games when the boys were over for Christmas. They had a lot of fun too.

    Great minds.....

Good morning, a cool and clear 14 degrees. The owb was fed a diet of red oak and ash last night and seems to be cruising. If the old stove in the garage is cold, I'll peel a couple shovel loads out of the owb for a quick start in the garage. I've gotta' couple chains to touch up and thinking about chasing firewood today,,coffee 1st then I'll get out of doors.
Have good one, be safe and don't drink and drive,,Happy New Years Eve.

Working for the morning today. Then it will be home for lunch and hopefully outside to pick up and move the rest of the rounds I have laying on the ground. I cut some more yesterday afternoon and still have some sitting on the ground from the time around Christmas. Trying to squeeze in as much wood retrieval for next season as possible before the snow comes!

Hopefully you won't have to get up to your elbows on the next one. That can't be fun in the cold.
