However, I liked the article. I was happy to see 65 non-efficient stoves being replaced with 65 efficient ones. And I was even more happy to see that they are wood burning stoves. They are not forcing gas and/or oil heaters on people.
65 dragons put out to pasture, 65 new EPA stoves squeezing max output from quite likely less than half the wood used before, less particulates in the atmosphere (by a large margin). whats not to love?
+1 All good stuff. Now they need to learn to season firewood . Lennox, Grandview stoves, not sure the model Semi remote village . Tyonek was strip logged a couple decades ago, Lots of logging roads to get out & get wood. Then what was hit with the Spruce bark beetle. Lots of dead standing spruce . Few PUs there, lots of atvs . Has a winter road some years that connects it to the road system, (not in this year yet, been to warm ) Has to cross several large rivers, (no "bridges to nowhere" built in Alaska . LOL ) Primary in & out is the gravel runway. Landing craft type barges in the summer. Has a large coal area near by. Has commercial power from Chugiak Power Co. Also I believe they have a Natural Gas pipeline . Just a few miles south of the Beluga NG power plant that supplies Anchorage power. Be a good place to start a firewood business Gotta be a Native to live there.
Really...They just gave out wood stoves???? What kind???? Hope these people really appreciate them...
I believe its a good thing too...but what about wood?..most of these stoves wont burn worth a chit without dry wood..unlike the older stoves....prolly gonna have some pretty unhappy people with shiny new stoves that wont heat their homes fer crap...
