My oak grows all twisted, I can never get nice splits like that.
My next wood burner will be a deep north south. Just seems easier to fully load that way. The slanted baffle gets in the way east west. Just before I started burning ing, I worked on a house up in the mountains. We burned all the wood scraps in an old insert that loaded 30" north south. I don't remember what it was, but it was impressive. It looked like a Timberline, with the large spinning nuts for air control, no glass.

About 1.5 cords split and stacked. Made a small dent in the sea of rounds but there is a lot left.

I gave a valiant attempt at not posting in this thread and have failed miserably, primarily due to the fact that I simply wanted to say that what you have right there is one AWESOME PILE OF RED OAK!

I'm burning red oak all winter, some other stuff mixed in for sure, but mostly red oak. It's been split/stacked 4 years and just is doing a wonderful job at throwing heat out of my little Oslo.
