I clocked 100K miles on it this Spring, put a new set of Metzler 880 tires on and wore them down pretty good. She is looking and running pretty fine. I haven't put her away for the season yet... still have maybe a month or more of riding to do. All I ever do is change the oil, and put brakes and tires on this sweet BigGirl. Got down and dirty with her a few weeks back to clean the wheels and really make her shine. She is now 16 years old and still, for me, the perfect motorcycle.
Yup they are like a timex watch. Keep em' serviced and they will run for a LONG time. My 88 GL1500 runs great still very good bike.
I came across a pic I took up at Americade a few years ago of a GW that I would love to own. Some of the best ones were the older ones. Mid nineties they got too big and bloated. I gotta go find that pic and post it. You'll like it. Steve
Here's my 2006 RoadKing..I've done a couple IBA Saddle Sore 1000's on it. Rode out to Sturgis in 2008 (a few days after the event) went to Wyoming, Denver CO I've been down to the Blue Ridge Parkway. Tail of the Dragon, SkyLine Drive, countless times on it. I love riding the mountains in that part of the country.
I think I added the fairing in 09, it's an aftermarket one.... The lowers were added in 07.... I put in some Andrews 21N cams also.
Awesome! I was looking at the pics before reading your text and I thought.. well, it's a Ultra, then I realized the tank paint was an RK and the badging on the front fender was an RK. How many miles? I've got 60K on my 07 EGC and looking at doing a 107" upgrade this winter. Steve
Very nice Valk and EGC I think I have around 45k on the King. I haven't thrown a leg over it in two years....I fell off a roof and ended up with a broken jaw...chin landed on a nice size rock. I healed up pretty good in a couple months....but something just kept me off the bike. I see you are about 1 hour north of me....I've been to the Kanc and Franconia Notch for day trips a couple times, nice riding up that way. I feel pretty confident that I'll take some time to do some riding in 2015.
bike on left is my daughters 200 883,bike in middle is my 02 customized glide, bike on right is my wifes 05 1200
thanks,I try to keep the fact that I also build custom bikes kinda low key. I love doing it but I just don't have the needed time anymore.
Just bought this bike. I bet nobody has ever heard of this one before. It cost me about 1,800 bucks brand new. That's my niece and riding companion on the bike.
What a great thread. I'll post pictures of my current bikes... 2006 Yamaha FJR1300 2009 Kawasaki Zx14 2008 Yamaha Wr250x
