Just with what Machria did on this project, imagine if he marketed himself. I think he'd do alright. His own project is his portfolio!
That is a really great idea, and an awesome follow through !! Nice house and a beautiful area you live in too !!!!!
That's great work. The only thing I would have done different is add a fairlead where the cable comes through the wall. It looks like it might be chewing up your siding a bit.
+100 on all the comments. Very well thought out and executed ! I'm in the process of planning a 30'-40' I-beam on posts to tong rounds and trolley to my splitter and have splits conveyed into shed. ANYTHING to make life easier the older I get. Posts and I-beam are gonna multi task as a yard light/flag pole and picnic/party/BBQ structure. I have all the materials. Time is the issue.
This is what I love about this site... I mention this to my friends and neighbors, and they look at me like I have two heads, "Your nuts" is the standard comment. I post it on here, and everybody appreciates it and understands it! You guys understand what this does for me, they don't really!! You are right, and THANKS for the great idea. Fairlead ordered! I've been trying to figure out how to solve that without making the hole wider. I didn't think I would ever have to move the cable while the hoist was swung over to the side, so the cable would just "touch" the side of the hole. But of course I usually have to adjust the height an inch or 2 up or down when swung over to make it level with the banister for unloading. The fairlead will solve that. I'm also going to change the pulley to a stainless one, I just didn't get it yet (backordered). That's why it's squeaking, the current pulley wheel is loose and squeaks. That will be changed soon enough. But I couldn't wait to try her out! That sounds interesting.... 40'?? PICS!!!
I'm just starting to plan it. With everything else on my plate it will be next fall before it gets done. Little by little over the summer. Going to have to be dry to pour the concrete. I'll have to bucket the crete across yard with the loader. Don't feel like fixing yard too.
I hear ya, I started drawing up this hoist project plan a year ago. Feels good to be done. Now onto some honey do lists.... fixing a leaky shower pan.... crap! Anyone know a good tile guy on LI?
You are nuts! But that's a good thing around here. Could be useful on those nights when the wife has to drive ya home... if ya know what I mean....
"Gimme Da Wood" is a saying I use often... thought it was appropriate. Finished replacing the cedar siding/ceiling today that I ripped out to mount the box. Ran it thru a dada blade on the table saw. Just waiting for a new stainless pulley, and the fairlead I ordered.
