A quahog is a hard shell clam found from C.T. north to Boston. Here in the New Bedford area they use draggers off shore to harvest them. They are cooked the meats removed and the shells cleaned and used for walkways, driveways, parking areas. Our drive took 24 45' dump loads for the first coat. They crush down to about 1/4" size and get as packed and solid as concrete. If you have ever had clam chowder it was most likely made with quahogs.
