I like to try and do most of my falling and skidding in the winter. So usually the first or second weekend after hunting season ends I start getting back in the woods with the saw and tractor. Yesterday I hauled the tractor up to my wood lot/hunting land. Had to spend 2.5 hours plowing so I didn't get any cutting in. image.jpg

I had a few hours free today so I went up and skidded out a few trees. I bucked it all up and stacked it. Then split a pickup load to bring home. image.jpg

Good looking truck and tractor. What kind of wood are you cutting?

Thanks. That load there is beech maple and white birch. My land has beech, maple, yellow and white birch, and cherry. I also have hemlock, white pine, spruce, cedar, and balsam.

Nice variety of wood you have. I love beech. Clean because of the smooth tight bark, and dries quick. Puts off good heat too

Can sometimes be a bear to split though

Yea I can cut right through. I have ice chains on the New Holland, they make a world of difference. My brother has a 10k # excavator with a hydraulic thumb, that makes it real nice for stacking my logs on my header.

Like the Ford/New Holland setup with the winch. Would like to see some action pics of the skidding at work!

I'll get some action shots next time I'm out!

Yes the winch hooks to the 3pt and runs off the PTO.

I've got a Kubota L2650 - your exhaust has the same lean as mine! The PO was moving plywood with the bucket when the load slid and pushed the exhaust stack back. A little heat with the torch and mine is better but still not verticle.

Ouch! As i see it, adds character and adds to the aerodynamic efficiency when trailering!

Wow! 2 1/2 hours plowing snow you must have cleared a lot of trail and probably a large area for stacking logs. Nice to have the tractor to work with.
