It's been a long time comin'. I've been counting the days down for the last two weeks now. Starting today at 4:30, I'm on vacation from that horrible place that takes my daylight away.

Winter really wears on me. Not that I don't enjoy the cold and snow, I do. Nothing like a cold morning out in the woods with the saws and a thermos of hot coffee. It's the damm darkness for the majority of the day that I hate. Leave for work in the dark, come home in the dark. I have to fight my way into the woods on the weekends just to get a little saw therapy. Maybe get a couple cart loads of wood, or even just some splitting time.

I know a lot of people have to work at least Mon/Tues. Some the next Mon/Tues. SUCKERS!

Get you some family time on the few days we have off, enjoy your Christmas and New Years shenanigans, and most of all, cut some damm wood!

I plan on breaking that new 2253 in. You?

Sounds nice. We're heading to Florida to visit family Sunday, and I'll be back by Christmas. Back to work the week after

I'm one of those suckers that have to work both Mondays and Tuesdays. No rest for the weary...

Sad to say, I well remember those days of leaving in the dark and dark again before I got home. Also, I well remember working both Chrismas Eve and New Year's Eve. No, I don't miss that at all.

I just hope I don't get too bored. Boredom can be dangerous!

Today was a good day. Took the Jonsered out for a scrounging trip. Manged to get some oak, cherry and hickory back to the woodpile. Also got the old truck unloaded from splitting last Sunday. Even managed to sell a face cord. The guy who picked up the wood asked if I was interested in a cherry tree he couldn't cut up with his little saw.

Now I'm relaxing by the wood stove in the barn with a big cup of coffee.

Off until the 2nd. Though I have to take a look each day to make sure things are running remotely.

    Projects for this action are:
    • Garage cleanup, build another shelf for the garage to store softball gear.
    • Run snow blower to make sure it's ready. Hopefully I'll get to use it.
    • Run generator to make sure it's running in top shape.
    • Cutdown three cherry trees and one oak and split/stack.
    • Finish a half torn apart bedroom to get my son back into it.
    • Build second woodshed.

Hopefully I'll get through the first 4.
