Got a chance to get a poulan 306a cheap. ( 30 dollars). Has 120 lbs compression fires with gas in carb. No bar or chain otherwise decent shape. Gonna need carb rebuild etc . I have a 20 bar and chain that will fit. Any thoughts. Worked in a small engine shop that sold poulans in the 80's remember these as a decent saw.
For 30 bucks why not? I don't know anything about them but for 30 bucks even if you don't get a useable saw out of it, it'll be a nice wall hanger. Sounds like you could get it going easily enough though
I would pull the muffler and see what the piston and cylinder look like. If decent, go ahead and dicker on it. If it does not work out, I have some 306 and 245 saws here.
Thats what I was thinking parts seem plentiful so I think I will get it. If nothing else part it out on ebay. But I think I can get it running. Looked up the specs and it will take a 24 in bar. If it can handle it thatwould be handy
