Not gonna get it all stacked soon. I work it a little at a time. I'm kind of slow now that I'm getting ahead. I usually stack about a cord at a time when I'm out there. The Ash has been dead standing for 1 year and fresh split is about 50% moisure. Silver maple & Ash css for 1 1/2 yr is 18% avg
Had near 15,000 hours on it. Some were learning to burn a cat stove hours, It probably took some abuse during those hours.
It feels damm good. I now control the price, I control the temp, and I'm not dependent on others for power outages, supply issues etc. I get extreme pleasure from the entire process, even though there are hard days and hard work. I mean, how do you describe keeping your house in the mid 70's while sitting in shorts and not having that sharp pain in your right butt cheek. In our old house, the frugality of natural gas kept our house at 66-67, and we lounged in long pants and long sleeve shirts, and still worried about how much the gas bill was going to be. Just keep trimming little bits of stress out of your life, and it gets easier everyday. It's so much more gratifying doing harder work for heat than doing easier work and paying for it. Doesn't make sense reading that, but somehow the thought process makes perfect sense. Maybe I should have read more as a young'n. Thanks for the kind words. Keep cuttin!
Wow, I didn't think ash was that much moisture even when green. Perhaps being dead it soaked some up?

I've never found anything in my life that comes close to the feeling I've gotten when the ice cold winds howled, power was out, wife and kids sound asleep... and I'm adding wood to the stove during the night, keeping us comfortably warm. Makes perfect sense to me too...
