In case anyone here hasn't seen this. We're giving away this saw........ported. Donations go to help T-Bone75 with medical expenses. Every ten bucks gets a chance to win..... http://www.youcaring.com/medical-fundraiser/tbone-medical-expense-fundraiser/90579
Great cause, Randy. Glad you are with us..... I'm going to make this a stickie until the raffle is up.......
Hey Randy, how about a link to the thread about TBone just in case our membership here hasn't become familiar with what he is up against yet?
http://www.arboristsite.com/showthread.php?t=243456 I wasn't sure that was a good idea.......AS wouldn't allow that.
Good thing I have read the thread because it looks like AS has been hacked again. I think the owner of this site is a member, but anyway.
I am running Chrome on a Mac and it went to linkbucks. I like Chrome, I guess I will see what I can do.
I downloaded a noscripts extension for chrome and AS is back for me. It has been a wealth of knowledge for me over the years. Much like Archery Talk when it comes to my bow addiction. I will toss a few bucks in the hat for T-Bone.
I would love to see all of the saw and tree care forums get along without feeling like some sort of competition was going on......
Uh, that will never happen. And they are competing for forum posters and advertising. And this is getting political, so I will stop here. ops: AS for the link to the post above, AS is still being hacked and re-directing (just tested using my laptop with internet exploder). The search engine there has been failing for a long time, and even Google searches of that site are not working any more. Darin posted the issues over on the vBulletin site, with little response there, and he and his wife are pulling their hair out trying to resolve it. Many sites have been hit lately, mainly from hackers in South Asia.
Well they are in competition for ad dollars. The more page views the more ad money. See any ads here? I would like to see it kept that way so that this can be a truly open forum.
You should be able to set up the site to accept Paypal donations. Put a button at the top. That would be better than ads.
I would PM Scott on that one. (Scotty Overkill) We are just getting rolling here and it will take a bit more time to hash out a sponsorship plan. (the mods and especially Scott all pitched in to get this thing off the ground.) In the meantime, we are thrilled to help TBone, even if it means linking to a "competitive" site.
We do compete with other Forums. That's business. But when it comes to helping people? That's different. As soon as I approached Scott and the other Mods, there was no question as to help TBone. We come together in a time of need. Randy, you as well as many others are welcome here, there, and wherever you wish to lay. That's one thing we want clear. This isn't a "You post here. You stay here" world. Thanks for the links Randy. We all hope John returns to 100% very soon And you already have my address info, so you know where to ship the saw
I've all but given up on Arboristsite........ hope I don't win the raffle saw, I won't be able to get on to check my PM box
Unfortunately as this site grows the cost to operate it are going to go up as well. Someone will have to pay for server space etc. This has happened to almost every site I am a member of. It takes money to be on the web and the money will eventually have to come from us or advertisers.
We'll figure something out, guys. As I have said before, I didn't start this site to "run another site into the ground" or to "compete" with other sites, I started this one to get away from the one-sided bias and also to allow multiple interests. ( hunting and woodstacks, cooking, catching, CHAINSAWS, woodstoves, pellet stoves, FISHING, etc.) in that wasn't allowed on the other site I once belonged, and a TON of guys/gals want to be able to talk about that. Anyway, I'd love to keep it "free", but due.to operating costs, well we're going to eventually figure something out. Big thing is, I don't want this site to turn into a two page billboard, I want this site.to be about the membership. And the comraderie.
