And I have a few guys units here that should have been done a couple of weeks ago for sure. I didn't schedule many saws for this month.....only a few in the first week, but I was a few saws behind when I took this break. I need to take a little time off every couple of months to do things around my place. To be honest I have far too many unfinished projects here.

Since I was planning a little down time my wife asked me to paint the kitchen. She & I picked out a color.....and so it began. We got home with the color and she decided it would not work well with the cherry cabinets. :cold:

So "we" decided to use that color in the breakfast nook.

Well that room has had a wood stove in it for a few years.....and the heat did some strange things to the drywall joints. I ended up chiseling out all the mud on all the corner beads, and redoing them.

In the end, that room turned out really good.......but the kitchen......we still had to paint the kitchen. o_O

"We" picked another color and painted the kitchen....not just the walls.....but the ceiling, and all the trim too.

Of course the hallway needed the same treatment.

Then I got the bright idea to wipe down the cabinets with thinner........which turned the finish an odd white color. :dizzy:

Well, now I'm refinishing the cabinets. :(

Long story short.......I'm been out of the shop, and in the house working. It is a great change of pace that I'm enjoying. Believe it or not, porting saws is very monotonous. Doing it day after day is not easy......but it's still the best job I've ever had.

I just wanted to post this so anyone that was wondering where I've been would be informed.

Seems like a lot better communication than what another builder gives over on AS! Good on you for this and I don`t even have any work being done by you. Not to hijack, but did Dan ever come through with the saws or a reason?

After spending 4 summers painting college dormitories I try to avoid that task whenever possible. I just did my daughter's bathroom, have the paint for 2 bedrooms but have not started.

I spent last weekend working on saws, got many of these cleaned and at least running on prime.

Dan is having some serious heath issues. I'm sure he took on the work because he needed the money........then life slapped at him pretty hard.

He'll make good on everything I'm sure.

Amen to that! I'm glad there are people that make a living painting and doing carpentry, keeps me from having to do it.

I sure about ruined my cabinets.

They had some discoloration from the mop rubbing around the bottoms, so I tried cleaning them with thinner. It fubared the finish. :(

Now.....I'm not so good with polyurethane. My first coat bubbled up.......

Your a brave man to mess with "your" kitchen cabinets anyway... "my" kitchen is a no Stinny zone, when it comes to "stuff".

Tennesee sounds nice Ive never been further south than columbus Ohio. For Poly you should cut it up to 50% for the first coat slap the brush on the sides of the can never wipe it over the rim.It is possible to get a spray quality finish with a brush.Youhave to tip the brush more of an angle. The bubbles are from the thinner getting trapped not evaporting.Thinning it does alot if you can't get a full stroke thin it more.Try not to stroke the brush more than 3 times on same pass.

Being a cabinet builder, I cringe whenever someone asks me about refinishing a kitchen...

    Have fun. :p

So are you saying that you're done porting saws for the year? So, a 40% gain in turn around time?

Be sure not to shake it. That's the best way to make bubbly polyurethane.
