Well at least one of the weather forecasting companies is calling for a super bomb winter storm for DEC 24 -26 similar to the Blizzard of 1978 for New England.

    That is all.

Compare and Contrast while you run your lists.

Today is the 17th!! The weather people would be hard pressed to be able to name what DAY OF THE WEEK those days will fall on, besides what the weather will do!

Yup, normally that is true, but this particular group has a good track record and other folks are also hinting at a dump around Christmas.

Like I said Compare and Contrast.

Me, I'm already running my list don't want to be caught with a less than an adequate supply of essentials.

And it isn't french toast ingredients.

Right where I want to be.
    I like French toast.
Not on the E. coast, but we always have a bunch of stuff in the pantry.

I like it as well just that I won't run out and get eggs, milk, and bread just because of a storm,

    1. I have chickens.
    2. The boss lady makes bread. We have between 60 and 100 lbs of flour at any time in the pantry.
    3. Milk bothers both of us, but bothers her more than me, so we have an alternative.

The number one thing I check is TP and the second is either gas for the genny, snowblower, car or full water jugs and bathtub.

It is too soon for the water jugs and bathtub filling.

We also are expecting company for next week.

I crack up at all the dopey people panicking before a snow storm (via the nutsy media warnings...!). They run out and empty the shelves of food, batteries and ice melt!! First, we live on Long Island, 60 miles from the one of the largest city's/metro area's in the world. There are 5 million people on LI! If LI runs out of food and batteries because of 12" of snow, there will be MUCH bigger problems than worrying about where the next batch of pancakes will come from, or how you will keep your Mag-lite flashlight going! And regarding this ice melt bidness, ahhh...well, excuse me but how is a 50 lb bag of ice melt going to save the world when the end is near from the, you know, 9" of "deadly" world ending snow???

It will likely be speckled white here unless the temps get a lot higher than where they have been.

It was pouring out this morning but that is supposed to change over during the overnight.

We will see, the temperature forecasts haven't been on the mark for here in sometime.

Ice Melt? Don't need no stinkin' store bought ice melt.

That is what the ashes are for and our town has a community sand pile for people to get salted sand at for their walk ways and to have in a vehicle.

Ash is what is currently helping the rain get through the ice in my back/front driveway.

Every storm we have had lately has made ice in its time here.

I have to go out and tend the chickens and I have been using ice creepers since Thanksgiving.

No mine are black and have 24 triangular points on each foot. I have a second pair that is green and I can't remeber what that one has except I wouldn't want to step on any appendages while wearing any of them.

There is a pair of snow shoes in the closet that have some real nasty grips on them, just in case. I haven't used those ones yet as the other pair of mine has been enough.

As a sailor I know that the forecasts out to a week or so have been getting better and better every year. Time was a few years ago that you couldn't trust anything 48hrs out, now 72hrs is pretty concrete and the tentative for the region seems to be pretty good a week or so out. THis would be on the edge of that, bit not unreasonable IMHO

There is one time a year that unwanted snow, and the more the merrier. And that is Christmas Eve/Christmas Day. I don't have to go anywhere and the family that will come here are very close by. So yup. I actually do like what you are saying.

The new extended forecasts on local news the last few years blows my mind! I remember when they showed a few days in advance. Good to know they are not foolin' us !
