These vultures would take the candy from a baby and leave behind a lollipop stick. They just want you out the good stuff before you need it so you can be just like them, complaining about a shortage of decent pellets.
I ain't seen any around here either but I do know that some places are a bit short for various reasons.
To Pellet shortage or not to Pellet shortage? I live in an area that is hardly a mecca for pellets. However, I've been checking the big box stores around here for a couple of months now. I check two HD's and a Lowes. I don't necessarily get to all three each week, but I get to one or two. Since I bought my two tons, I don't recall ever seeing one full ton available for sale (I think that was early October). There were a couple of times when there were a few bags left on a pallet. One of those times I picked up 6 bags and there were probably less than 10 left. I went to Lowes this weekend and left with the impression that they have moved on from pellets. They took the sign down and no longer have the space open for new pellets to be displayed (and the "display" is way in the back corner of the store). Anyway, it's early for them to do that around here. There is one local hearth shop that sells pellets. They usually have 6-10 pallets in the back. There have been times when I've driven past and there were no pellets back there.
certainly looks to be a regional "thing".....some folks, they are everywhere, other folks....nowhere. I wonder why that is? Got an email from woodpellet.com which stated something like exports are up to Europe by a pretty large amount...here is the link: http://www.woodpellets.com/blog/201...l&utm_content=dec2014&utm_campaign=newsletter I don't know if this helps, as technically it does come from an evil, lie-spewing retailer , but, take it for just another source of info...... If in fact, exports have doubled, and production hasn't doubled (how many new mills are out there this year?), and also assuming there isn't a huge amount of excess production (not likely from a business perspective if you're a mill), one would seem to figure there is in fact a shortage, if not just in certain locales.
