Pic just posted a few threads down. Husband bought it with 80K miles in 2004. He "sold" it to his company in 2012 at 370K. 1999 7.3 engine ( I think), supposedly a good one, and this truck proves it...

Some of the guys were driving it today and totalled it. All the guys are fine, no injuries thank goodness. Last time I asked a few months ago it had 470K on it, original engine. Too bad, it was our personal, or family vehicle for a lot of years, good memories. He said it ended up on its side, and something about water in the engine is a dealbreaker. And they just replaced all 8 glo plugs this summer. pffft.

Losing a truck is like losing a member of the family. My condolences. :(

Funny how you hear these stories of high mileage 7.3s and how the replacements have so many problems. All because the EPA pressured Ford and International to make a cleaner, quieter engine. :(

Doesn't look too bad to be totaled. Might be able to find a good engine and suicide door and have a beater truck cheap.

We will see.....that is quite the possibility, he loves that truck, may not throw in the towel in just yet. And yes, it doesn't look 1/2 as bad as the guys described!

If that happens, we are having some logistic problems with our 450 gal water tank in his work truck, might come back to us for a water truck. It's a 5 speed manual, no granny gear like my 81' Blazer, but if he chooses to fix the F250 I will consider selling the Blaze. It would be a steal for anyone that gets it. Blazer is very ugly but almost everything under the hood and chassis is new.

Apparently you and hubby think along the same lines :)

A good used truck is hard to find. That one at least you all know what it has went through.

Not sure if they're new but look like decent tread from the picture on my iPad.

    yep, thats Artie :(

My father always told me to never buy a vehicle from NE states, he said the road treatments rusted them out. My blazer is from MI and has more rust than I have ever seen out here. Sorry you guys have to deal with that.

Artie was in exceptional condition (besides high mileage) when he passed it on. I am thinking he just might get it back though we will have to foot the repairs and replacement engine.

 thinking too much about this. We had an RV hookup pole put in backyard while we lived there last summer. LOL Artie could be parked in the pole barn plugged in to the pole :)

99 is the best year for 7.3s as they went turbo but still had the forged connecting rods. Mine is an '02, but only 180k.
