Long story short, where I had my wood stored for the last 2 1/2 years wasn't the ideal place for airflow and sun and what I thought would be good to go for this year, isn't.. so I've called countless Criagslisters over the last couple of days and everyone has wood that is 8-10 months "seasoned".. my little EPA stove doesn't like wet wood. I have 8-10 month old wood too. does anyone want to give up a stash of theirs, or point me into a direction of someone that sells real seasoned wood?
Round here 8 month old wood for sale is like finding gold. Its either green or it been down long enough to have been seasoned a little and filled back up with rain water. Good luck on your hunt. There are a bunch of good ole Ohio boys here that may fix you up.
I doubt you would want to drive down here, but I have 7 cords css for about 3 years. I prob won't burn much if any this year, since I got free gas off the well a couple months ago.
I went and looked, I got 4 cord of wood that's completely ready. And a lot more that will be ready next year. Wish I could help but I've already sold or given away over 2 cord this year of good stuff.
New to this area, don't know anyone to cut on their land. I know one guy that I can't get to until after deer season, he has tops from some logged trees a few years ago, but not sure how dry the stuff will be since it wasn't C/S/S.. Stickbender, sent ya pm. I am down in cambridge ALOT for work. thanks for everyones replies and suggestions. I have a couple leads that should get me through... I burnt slabwood the first year I had the stove and got it early for 10 bucks a bundle. 2 bundles was about 1.25 cord. now they are charging 60 bucks a pickupload of slab, or 200 a cord... that would be gone in a week... lol.
Check into the tops. I scored a bunch of tops this summer that had been driven on by the skidders last winter. The skidders had knocked the bark off and it dreid really quick. Little dirty and kinda rough on chains, but sometimes ya can't be choosy.
