To be 2 years ahead in my wood supply!! I know most here are 3+years ahead, but this is just my 3rd season of heating my home with a wood stove, and I'm doing my best to make contacts and scrounge!!!

I've burned probably right at about 3/4 cord so far, and I've already filled in almost half of that void in my stacks with some freshly CSS'ed "standing dead elm" that came down into my friends yard. Got a line on a couple other downed trees, that I should be able to get snow or no snow.

Working on that 3+ year thing................slowly but surely!!

Thats the way to do it. The more you get out there the more you will find especially during the winter season. Look out for the power companies that clean up the trees next to power lines.

Good on ya for working towards that 3-year hoard. Once you're there, it gets easier.

Hey it takes time. Good work! Even at 2 years ahead, your wood will burn more efficiently and you'll get more heat and less creosote in your chimney. That sounds like something to celebrate!

Don't feel bad! You are 2 years ahead of us, experienced wood burners/left 5 year hoard when we moved out of state.

Way to go MW! Keep it up and you'll be 5 years ahead before ya know it... Get yourself a tow strap a good long one and pull the big logs over the snow right to the road side if you can. It makes life so much easier.

Just remember that someone owns that property, and it may not be the power co.
I'd be a tad upset if someone cut downed trees on my property which the power co. uses for their lines.
    Just an FYI:thumbs:

Sounds like you're starting to feel some gravity from those stacks.. Do a good, professional job with those trees, and pretty soon everyone will be calling you!

    Congratulations MW!

Probably all of us remember that magical time when we got a couple years ahead. Then we relived it when we got 3 years ahead. The work became much easier then and the wood warmed us better too.
