My plans are for cleaning up more of the downed stuff around the house from the ice storm last year, it should include some burning. Last Sunday I did 6 loads, Saturday if I could double that it would make a small dent. We do have some topped off White Pine in the area so if I get time they'll come down. We would like to take the sleds out but we only received 9 inches of snow.
Very nice. If I go into the woods this weekend I'm gonna put my log splitter next to the pit so I can stay warm and burn what ever junk....
Did you any of that wind storm a few weeks ago? We had 60mph gusts here. Had at least 6 trees come down in that storm. And that's just the areas I know really well. Wondered how you made out in that one.
NYCountry , I also need to burn some wood back on the property I cut on. Shawn Curry , we did get winds but not like you received, I found one tree down from that storm but I still have a few more hills to hit. On Sunday night I need to open the gate on our property that the county snowmobile associations trail comes through. If there's not enough snow for the sleds, I'll put the chains on the back tires of the rhino so I can make it down that way........ and back
I only did five loads today, I decided to put the chains on the back of the Rhino so I could take a run back in. Mother Nature put a Hemlock down across the trail not to far back, both saws were dirty so I headed back home, I cleaned both saws and I have four chains that I sharpened ready for tomorrow.
Looking warm by that fire, elsewhere not so much. Alot of snow has melted here. Did you get the plow on the rhino?
Not yet, maybe tomorrow depending if we have more trees across the trail. Well Seasoned , it was actually a nice day, the temp was around 23 degrees today which is perfect for working. I do bring about three pair of gloves that I wear when handling the snow covered wood......... I have a seperate pair of gloves I use just for cutting.
Nice bonfire zap I need to get a brush fire going here soon. Pretty warm down here though, I was hoping it'd be cool by now so I don't sweat my arse off by the fire
I hear ya on that bigbarf48 , we do most of our burning during the winter months because of two reasons, 1. less of a chance of starting any fires on the forest floor and 2. revert back to number 1.
The first four pics are the Hemlock that was down across the trail, further down we had a second smaller rotten tree down across the trail. The whole day was spent outside from 8 this morning until 5:15 tonight (cooking on the grill), after I took care of the trees it was back home so I could do some roof raking, after that was done it was time to plow with the rhino and the last two things we did was open up the gate for the snowmobile trail that runs through our property an push in some wood. I did take about an hour for lunch along with talking with Sav until it was his turn to eat.
