His truck had been stalling occasionally. The take off has a brand new pump driver so that saves him a couple hundred that he was going to have to spend. I'll mention the glow plugs, thanks.
Probably better for parts. Some of the 6.5 block castings had some cracking problems down on the webs if I remember right. There are remote mount kits for the pump drivers. Go to www.dieselplace.com good group there and they will be able to help you out a lot. Gary
I was going to mention the PMD relocation on those too. As far as the engines worth, knowing that it's been severely overheated and at least one head is scrap, I would say its worth more at the scrapyard than on CL. Unless he's willing to tear it down and prove the block is good.
I would have by pass rad and heater core and used liq glass I did it on my 79 olds head was cracked smokin when I put it in came out of the house 15 min later no smoke
Cant believe they don't put an overheat shut down on those small diesels. Been doing it on the big ones for many years
Heck on the 6.5 they wouldn't run long enough to overheat! Cracked quite a few piston on the Isuzu 4BD2T though. Put a lot of miles on them buggers as long as you kept them cool. Gary
Oh, this is bad. In my 1993 Grand Cherokee, I heard the serpentine belt snap and almost immediately lost power steering. I pulled over, had it towed to a shop and it was also a bad tensioner pulley that did it. About $220.00 later, all was well. Something like this is a cashectomy of Biblical proportions. I'm going to get another beer and raise it to your buddy in hopes that things will work out.
