In my count I'm only counting using shoulder wood and regular season wood not punks, uglies and shorts. Currently I'm at .9 cords used. The list of wood for this count is; ash, beech, white and black birch and cherry. If I was to guess at the punks, uglies and shorts I'd say around 1/3 of a cord. I don't keep any records on this but I'd say I'm doing ok so far for halfway through December. It was a cold November but December hasn't been so bad at all.
I've used more than I should have this year. Probably just over a cord. But discovered my cat is bad on my stove so we were pushing it harder to get heat out of it. Got a new SS cT on the way though!
I've used .5 to maybe.75. Ive been trying to use up some hackberry. Burns hot but doesn't burn real long.
Looks like everyone is close to the same, in or around a cord. Mostly guys burning softer hardwoods and softwood. Saving the good stuff for next month and Feb.
I'm at a cord and a half. this month was more moderate than last month so far. that was all last years leftovers, a little bit of slab leftover and all the uglies. Getting into my pin oak from two years ago and cherry from this spring from here on out. I'm going to have to pick up a cord or two to make it through winter, as everything else is too green to burn, either that or pay the oil guy...
I figure I've used a little less than 1/2 cord so far. Aside from a cold spell in November it really hasn't been that bad here. So far anyhow. All cherry and hickory. Which is most of what I have. Dave
Well I've really backed off this last couple of weeks. November I was really chewing threw it. I'm closing in on a cord +/- a few pieces. Next week we might be able to hit it decent again. But Oak, honey locust, mulberry, hedge, ash, and walnut have been on the diet...
Still under a cord for me so far. Burning mostly maple, birch, hickory and a little oak. I have a full cord of red oak that I'm saving for the real cold. I actually started burning a couple weeks earlier than normal this year but my wife is on first shift now so no one here to load the stove during the day. Coming home to a cool house now, but I'll be burning a lot less wood this year.
When he quit chasin' the mice............................... Seriously though, I am approaching the 1.5 cord mark.
1.75 cord here, but wood is our only heat and the wife and two year old stay home all day. Also the PE Summit wasn't burning right until I figured out there is a plate on the back of the ash drawer that needed to be removed to let combustion air in. We are burning 2.5 year old ash, elm, maple, and what I think is river birch.
About a cord and a half I think here. Don't measure so that's just my guess. Gas heat has not been on once so far!
