image.jpg I finally got my pile of bigs split. Unfortunately they have to sit outside for awhile. There's only enough room in basement for 4 cords and it is full.

    Perfect size !
Looks to be fairly dry .

    Gonna cover it?
Hope it don't have to be on the ground a long time

I like that you have so many different size of splits. Makes it easier to pack the stove when you need it packed.

Nice stack of fatties there, mj_deere. If they are just split, maybe the best place for 'em is outdoors anyway. Let the sun turn them gray for awhile...

You must have a big basement to get 4 cords in there. Some nice splits you got there

That fence in the background looks like a good place to lay a couple skids down and stack it up off the ground, good looking stuff ya got there.

How'd the elm split? Some of it looks mighty stringy

The elm was a little stringy. It was a pizz elm, but was very solid yet. Ill get it into the basement this weekend and it will dry probably 3 to 4 % more before it used. I kind of have a method to my madness. We have a huge old house with a basement to match. It was originally heated with coal so I took the coal room and tore down the walls and made it easier to stack wood from one end of the basement to the other. It works out great.

Performed an Exorcism of the coal room

Do you notice much more house humidity when the wood first comes in ?

As a kid we stored wood on our back porch face cord at a time, the windows would frost over after every reload.
