Pre Fab Fireplace

    i have a prefab fireplace and I was wondering if it's possible to put a insert of stand up stove in it. The stove company by me told me that I can't put anything in it otherwise it would burn my house down. If I were to put a stove with a steel pipe would that work or not

    Chech with the pre-fab's manufacturer. Some are certified for certian inserts, others are not. For a free standing stove in that spot it is better to rip out the pre-fab an build a new chase, hearth, and appropriate wall shielding.

    I have seen alot of questions between here and the other forum, but I can't say I have ever seen this one.
    Good question. Come to think of it, I have never seen anyone post a pic of a insert in a pre-fab fireplace either.
