Gonna tell on myself a bit

Been hunting as much as possible the last few weeks but this morning I told my wife I'm done with Buck hunting I want meat in the freezer. Went out and sat one of my stands that usually sees some action. Had 5 big doe come in and were walking around under me for a good 15 minutes with no idea I was there. Waited until they got out to about 20 yards in front of me and turned sideways for a perfect shot. Took the shot and hit it way to high.

I'm sitting here kicking myself I haven't had that happen since I was a teenager. I was so upset I just got down and came back to shoot the bow and the sights are on at 20, 30, and 50. I don't know what happened but nothing frustrates me more than sticking one in a bad spot. This one is going to bother me until I manage to drop one. I keep playing it out over and over and can't figure out what I screwed up. Maybe she flinched but most likely just me screwing that one up. Ugghh I hate this feeling.

The one I shot this AM was high too. Dropped it on the spot but it got back up after a minute or so... and I popped it again in the lungs. Only made it 10 yards total but I got nervous after the first shot and decided I had better finish it then.

When you take aim with your bow you are accepting the possibility that a bad shot can occur. You do your best and know your limits. Don't cross them. Move on to the next one and figure out what happened along the way. IMO, it is easy to get complacent when you have been waiting on a mature buck and decide to take a doe. Easy to do, no problem, let if fly. I look at doe hunting as practice for when the big boy is in front of me.
