I haven't pulled the string on a saw in weeks but I finely got out there today. :dancer: Not a big score but I got paid to take 'em down and I got the wood. Both dead standing, red oak and a small ash. The oak was in rough shape with a lot of punk but I'll get a few good splits out of it. The ash, while small, is rock solid.

I even fired up the new 660 some on the oak. Man, it's counter-intuitive to run a big saw like the 660 at less than full throttle! I had a hard time doing it. The oak was such a piece of junk that I just switched to the 441 and finished. I don't think I used a half a tank of fuel in the new 660 yet. Oh well tomorrow is another day and another tree! 016 (1024x749).jpg

Good deal , most people around here just want you to cut em down and give you the wood as payment most times not a good deal. Let us know how that 660 does I'm considering a 441,461 or661 in the near future.

Very nice. That punky oak will burn just fine as long as you keep it dry

Nice score to be paid to cut.
The term , spoiled, almost applies.

Hope you get one big enough to challenge the 660
    & we get pictures :)

Can someone tell me why punk is isn't as good? Does it not burn as well, or because it doesn't stack well? Thanks

Punk is soft , the stage right before compost.
    Absorbs water like a sponge

And you won't get much heat from the punky stuff.

THAT is the main problem. You can stack it and dry it out but you won't get much heat at all.
