Does the air intake on a fire view need to be cleaned or is there a way to check and see if it needs to be cleaned. I am having difficulty getting the stove over 300-400 degrees. I know the wood is good we are burning 3 year old Cs's beetle killed lodge pole pine. I went up and checked the chimney and it was pretty clean but I ran the brush down it anyway and I installed a new stainless steel cat at the beginning of the season. I'm not sure there is anything else to check
Probably not an air intake problem. You should easily reach 500 stove top temps with good wood and new cat. What kind of air settings are you normally running? How tall is your chimney?
We have never cleaned the air intake but one time somehow the slider came off in the intake. I thought I had some pictures of that but can't find any. On page 21 of the manual, look for part W-170. Sometimes these jump off the track during shipments but I don't remember what happened and why we had to do it. (My memory banks are overloaded right now). I believe I had to remove part W-167, which is where the draft control is. If you need more help, let me know via Private Conversation as that way I'll know for sure rather than having me forget to go back and read this thread. Your stove should be operating much better than that. Have you checked the cat?
I checked all of the hardware and nothing looked out of place so I vacuumed out the air intake and heard some stuff go through the hose on the shop vac not sure what was in there but the stove seems to be back to normal now. Thanks for all the help on this.
