Could those of you with experience in such matters pass on your thoughts please. Applied Ceramics and Condor are the only 2 of which I'm aware that make combustors. I sold some "junk" and would like to spend the money to have a back-up in case of, well who knows in case of what. I'd rather have one in a box on my shelf when the one on the stove craps out. That way I'm paying this year's price and not the 4 year inflated price. Guess I'm nuts about that kind of thing. My experience with Condor has been limited to getting a replacement catalytic thermometer, witch they did at no charge in an instant. My experience with Applied Ceramics has been limited to a couple of phone calls to their "Cat Man" and I was not impressed with him. He's the guy that told me if I stacked my wood in single rows, in the sun and wind for 3 years them moved it into a wood shed for 6 month before I burned it my wood was only seasoned 6 months. He was absolutely adamant that wood stored outdoors would not dry. "After all" he said "they make paper towels out or wood."
My sister's Firecat combustor arrived damaged, in perfectly intact, un-damaged packaging They wasted no time in overnighting a replacement, and a return shipping label for the damaged one. They could have easily said it was mishandled or dropped, but they didn't, so I'd rate that as pretty good customer service. I think that was two years ago. Still going strong. My only experience with either company.
Amazing that cedar works for shingles ? Try that with paper towels. LOL An education has nothing to do with being smart. I used condor for my SS one Working great so far.
I second the firecat combustor co, good customer service and prices were decent. http://www.firecatcombustors.com/
