I Have a jonsered 2065 that has been brought to me by a fellow worker, who has used it for firewood duty, this saw has been excellent until just recent, the issue is it will start and run ok for a few minutes ,then it will pop/backfire through the carb also idle appears to be high tried adjusting low speed richer and adjust idle down, but still wants to idle high,I am suspecting a air leak any ideas guys, thanks in advance.

Go to your local Auto parts store and see if they'll let you use a pressure tester on the jug.

I'd be considering a carb rebuild.

A carb rebuild should also be on your list, that would explain your idling issue.

Sounds like an air leak to me. I would eliminate or confirm that before anything else.

The only 2 saws I've ever had that backfired, had bad coils...
Check for leaks first of course...
    But that's just an FYI..

thanks for the replies folks, been around a lot of small and big enginesin my lifetime, work as a heavy equipment mechanic, when this saw backfires it quits running immediately i am leaning towards a crank seal or seals, cleaned it up today will dig into it this weekend and post back my findings, thanks again
