Can I dump ash pan into rubbermaid full of water?

    O.K. now that we answered her question, my question is "Why are there hot/burning pellets in the ash pan"????
    is it because of the stove design?? or not running properly???
    On mine if there are burning pellets in the ash pan the stove is way out of adjustment or really dirty.

    well, the stove is very new, so dirty WOULD SEEM to be unlikely, unless that particular stove is very finicky.....she did mention she had an issue with her venting, so, we'll have to see if rectifying the vent issue fixes the unit. This isn't the first issue with the unit....maybe once they get it dialed in....? The proof will be in the pudding come spring.....Wildwest will either be thrilled with their purchase, knowing the idiosyncrasies of their stove/vent system, or, they will simply be found frozen to death like Phil Goodeve-Docker......

    Hi IP. The pellets were feeding out so fast the new ones were pushing the burning ones over the burn pot into the ash pan. Its a bottom feed if that makes a difference. I have no idea what the problem is.
    The stove was pretty clean, emptied, scraped, and swept on Thursday night. Ash pan was 1/3 full. I didn't mean to worry anyone :emb:. I waited a couple hours after the flames burned out before I dumped it :thumbs:

    This is the second time it has happened, both times it was on the highest setting, the only two times on the highest setting........ I was lucky to notice it the first time and shut it down. Yesterday the ash pan was on fire before I noticed. Drolet told me to clean it first and it would be fine on lower settings. I have unusual heating requirements and the temps were dropping quickly, so I made a decision for a hot ash slurry, for better or worse..... Wow you should have seen the fine white ash on all the walls and glass!

    They are aware of this problem, even had me check a few things I had no idea to look for and sure enough, they were damaged. They are sending out replacement parts. We will have to see where this goes because its my main source of heat....

    PS, it is hooked up to an OAK, checked that too :)

    I pray we get it dialed in! Still alive, not frozen yet, though a little numb from crouching in a cold attic to help hubby get the pipe back on. I can personally attest to liberal use of RTV as it's now all over my hands, headlamp, and walkie talkie ,I had to guide the pipe for hubby on the roof :rofl: :lol:

    Pipe reattached, roof guy ties installed! Its rockin & rollin up to speed 4. I was out of commission for a few days and husband said he ran it on 5, but neither of us want to test speed 6. I could be wrong, but really think some of this played a part:

    I have not had exhaust from my OAK but clearly the wind, direction and speed affect both our stoves, pellet and wood. Thanks LW :)
