Picked up a ton of AWF, did not really want them, wanted Somersets. TSC only had AWF left and I figured early in the year wont need much heat, I'll give them a try. Well I have had the stove on this past week and my observations are; With the stove set on 3 where I usually run it, the heat output is the same because of how the Harman works. When I go to fill it at my normal intervals, morning and night, the hopper is still full. The stove is using ALOT LESS pellets and I mean a noticable difference. Conclusion; the pellets must be burning hotter, to satisfy the stove temp setting and longer using less pellets to achieve this result, correct?? Think I am going to pick up a few more ton from this same batch.
As I've mentioned a few times before, I have the same observation of the AWF's. Temps were in mid 20's last night, I left the stove on 3-4, and the house was just fine, heat-wise. For those who might not have seen it, the pellets that Lowes sells called "Premium", and can be bought for $209-219/ton are the same pellet...re-bagged AWF.
I woke up to my house at 73 last night running AWF ......my stat was set hi/lo at 68.....given that it must have never came off of low and was too hot!!
