I got my NT grinder and installed it on the bench... For the money, it's a fantastic grinder.. I made some modifications, and tightened all the loose items up... The light is awesome... Just sayin.. Next mod?? Reverse switch..
Ordered one and will pick up next time we go to see the inlaws as they have a store in their town. Saves me the $15 shipping. Thanks for the lost I have been wanting this one..esp since everyone says its so good . Also cause it does raker!
Extra washers on the chain clamp to keep the groove "less open".. Chain was wanting to drop into the groove.. Also on the indexing pawl.. It was a little sloppy, so I put an extra spacer behind it also, took up the play..
And why would you want to reverse the motor? Just curious....my little mind can't understand why? The modifications I totally understand but not the motor reversal?
Yep, did that on the rail after reading a thread from Lukem I believe. I know what your talking about on the paw, I'll have to throw one in there too. As far as motor reverse... too bad its not like a three phase systems just switch one set of legs around...
Because on one set of cutters, it puts the burr inside (correct), and the other set of cutters is on the outside (wrong). With a reversible motor, you are able to have both sets of cutters, with the burr inside.
Makes sense. So what about handfileing. Thats done inside out.... But I dont remember a but fileing like you get with the grinder.
I now file outside in ............... all the time, every time. Cutters get sharper and stay sharper longer
Yup... All teeth sharpened the same will make a better cutting, longer lasting chain... Still not as fast as a file sharpened chain, but close.... And very useable...
That was my very first whole chain that I filed, and since then, I have made some different adjustments to my file position, the cutter position, and the gullet. You can learn to square file, it might take a little practice, but you can do it !
Dang it. Thats a bit better than I did :-( I paid like $83 cause I had to buy something to get the price over $100 to get the extra $20 off.
