Anyone Burn Redbud?

I saw on some BTU chart, that I can't find now, that redbud was fairly high in BTU's. There are 3 on my land that need to come down and, for redbud, they fair sized trees. Any of you other woodenheads D) burn it?

 

I hear that it's related to locust and has similar BTUs.

 

A couple of times in college.....oh wait never mind.

 

Burns good but bigger tress tend to hollow out. You don't get much wood from them.

 

I forgot to mention the North American redbud and not the South American type.

 

In late June I removed my neighbor's 40+ yr old Eastern Redbud.Had been dead several years,part of it was hollow,all was bone dry.Wood is fairly dense,a bit more than Black Walnut but not quite like Red Oak or White/Green Ash.

Biggest pieces were 9"-10" diameter,ended up with 3 big wheelbarrow loads.Burns very well,slow with good coals,almost no sparks.Have about half of it left.That'll be gone in a few days.Mixing it in with Silver Maple/Green Ash & long dead White/Red Oak/Shagbark for the coldest days/nights.

 

About the size f the ones I've got to take down. Should be a great mixing wood.
