I was out walking the dog this AM, since I took the day off of work today. Looks like the phone co topped off an ash after the wind storm we had the other day.

The top of this one was dead, and I already had it marked. It was back weighted towards their lines though, so I was waiting to deal with it until I could get my tree climbing buddy to help me.

Time to play with the new saw! :D:saw:

Looks like ma nature was busy out there! Just took a walk around a couple of my trails, and found an ash, red pine, and a small elm that I had marked all down. I think the ash might have been marked too. She laid the elm down right next to the trail, right between 2 other small trees. Pretty much a perfect drop - guess she knows what she's doing - been doing it since the beginning of time! Good placement for all of em actually - not too far from any of the main trails. Didn't have my phone - I'll get some pics up in a bit!

So, will you be able to drop the rest of the Ash yourself?

Looks like they saved you some work, nice find. I lost 2 small ash trees I had marked for takedown in yesterday's wind.

always nice to find wood on the ground , my neighbor had a big cherry snapped off from the wind storm, I'd like to cut it up for him (he always gives me the wood) but its a tricky one, Ill ask you guys for advice when the time comes.

I think so, but it might be a 2 man job. Probably going to use a rope up top to fell it to help make absolutely sure it goes the right way. There's a couple small twigs somewhat intertwined with the wires, but if I can go straight into this pic here, they should slip right past it. It leans more forward than sideways, but there is a little bit of weight pointing the wrong way. It's a good size tree; there's probably about a NY face cord of tops they left.

Right next to a couple BL stumps I might as well get while I'm at it.

Here's some pics of the ash that came down. Another perfect drop by ma nature. Exactly where I would have tried to put it. Top landed in a clearing where I planted some trees, and it missed all of them. :D:thumbs:

The bottom of it wasn't well formed, halfway in a ditch, but there's some bug damage at the base that I'm REALLY hoping is just ants. Most of my ash trees seem pretty healthy - haven't seen EAB here yet.

And here's the red pine. Right off the trail. Threaded the needle between a bunch of trees to not get hung up. Or it shook loose if it did.

I was already planning to burn ash and red pine for the next couple years. I have a bunch at the house already to replace what I'm burning this year. I guess it's like my dad would say - "too much is always enough!" GIBIR time!!!! :saw::tree::axe::D

Loaded up most of the phone co's offerings. There's another large piece to get. All cut to trailer length pieces! I did t even bring my chainsaw, but I might have saved myself 3 mins if I had.

I'm guessing there's about 2 cords of ash to get altogether. :D
