    Personally? I'd save the money. Whether going ported or not. 545/555 (2252/2260) is a great saw.

    And if you already know Griz and his ways? Then you're more than welcome here. :thumbs: He loves Stihls (so do I ;) lol) and Randy (so do I ;) ) We are almost the same person, but not really.

    Thanks! I'd like to try out that ported 036 of yours! I flipped a pair of 036's two years ago, I still wish I would've kept one.

    The 2252/545 model is a good firewood saw. Not quite as much power as the 2253/550, but plenty of power for the 16-18" hardwood I use it for. I ran a ported 545 and a ported 550 that Terry had at Wiggs gtg and there was very little difference in the two saws.

    As i and others have stated elsewhere... The 545 is cheaper.... And so little behind the 550xp in power that its silly to pay more for the 550 xp. I have both a 545 and 550xp. The 550xp is the most impressive 50 cc saw ive had in my hands period. But.... Now that i recently got the 545..... I would never spend the extra clams again on the 550 xp. The power is just so close in the cut its rediculous. The 550 xp is a higher rever though ;)

    Good to see you're here, Matt! Fowlerville is growing. How long has it been since you've been here? They're building an O'Reillys auto parts out by the expressway now! Too bad it's not an Advance, I love their online discount codes.

    I think I'm leaning towards the 2253 over the 2252. Don't want to short myself that xp, don't know if I could stand knowing what could've been. Ported? I think I'll wait on that.

    Been here my whole life, minus a couple years in my early 30s. I remember when there was nothing but McDonald's on that stretch between the highway and the tracks, back when there was only the one light at the main four.

    Glad to see the new auto parts store. Carquest sucks.

    you traded a 550 for a 460? WTF, I woulda have done that too and I LOVE my 550...
    but the question remains is why you traded a Terry ported 2253 for a stock new 550????

    It was just a stock 2253 (new) for a new 550xp.

    I wanted an orange one, but the red was cheaper.
