    It seems that 2 years in a row I fell to further injure an already terrible back. This year we made it 3 in a row. Yesterday we were amazed when suddenly the temperature rose to 48 degrees! Made short work of our little bit of snow but one always has to be careful.

    Was going to head to town to take care of a few things. I went out first to check the ice and open the garage. Down the steps slow. The walk looks wet but not bad. Still be careful. Dang. As I was stepping down, I caught my heel. That's what I get for being careful. The next thing I knew I was flat on my back on that hard cement and cold ice. Hit the back of my head on the last step too. Had to lay there for a while to enjoy that cold wet ice....

    The gravel road was just like a hockey rink on the way out. I'd have hated to have to walk on it but we made it okay. Once we got to paved roads they were just wet. Coming back home, the gravel road was mostly slush.

    But now I sit here with heat on my back and yes, I had to give in to the pain meds again. Maybe some day I'll learn how to walk....

    EDIT: I goofed on the temperature. Today was the 48 degrees and yesterday when we headed out it was 40. Then the temperature rose all of last night. Like spring out there.

    I asked my wife if she thought perhaps it was time to think about heading back to AZ for a winter or two. Negative.... We'll stay home.

    Dennis, take care of yourself. Know how you feel about that slippery stuff. I usually manage to bounce my arse off the ground a couple of times each winter. Of course every time I do it, the first thing that's goes thru my pea brain is to quickly look around to see if anyone saw me dancing. Then we do a rapid body assessment for any possible destruction. Then hopefully, we pick our self up and march on.............

    Sorry to hear about your fall. Hope you didn't get a concussion.
    A few pails rigged up with a mix of play sand and ice melt goes a long ways to keeping you on your feet. Put one inside at every exit. Even the garage. I put in a plastic drink cup and I'm all set. When in doubt, toss some out. Darn ice melt alone doesn't do it. It melts, then re freezes but with the fine sand frozen in place, it is like walking on sand paper.
    Hope you aches go away soon.

    That's not good. Feel better. Try those pain patches they should be good for 12 hours. Epsom salt baths help...

    Man Dennis, that sounds almost exactly like what I did early this year.
    We got the same warmup and most of our snow is gone, yet there are still patches of that sneaky ice with water on top.
    Almost fell again today.
    I need to get some of the Yaktrax things for my shoes.

    Sorry to hear Sav, hope you're feeling better quick.

    All my ice fishing cleats that go over my boots/shoes were broke so we picked up two pair today, they should last about three winters depending on how much I use them for cutting.

    Darn Sav, hope you feel better real quickly. We had freezing rain yesterday around here and tradgedy struck, 3 young teens lost control on the ice covered road and collided with a school bus full of high school girls going to a scrimmage. All the kids on the bus were fine but all 3 teens in the car died at the scene. Prayers needed for the families.

    Crap, I hated to read this. I hope you heal up quickly and it isn't serious! We got ice on Saturday morning also and I just about landed on my butt on our deck. I hate ice.
