with a muffler mod, its the best stock 50cc class saw out there. if you want it ported down the road, get a 545 and save some bucks. out of the box, its hard to tell a difference in small wood. No regrets. I had a 5100 Dolmar that I loved and cheerleadered for, for years. This took its place... yup, the first winter with my stove, I didn't have wood cut and seasoned, so I bought 8 bundles of slabwood. all kinds of size differences, but hey at 10 bucks a bundle i wasn't complaining. had 5 1/2 cord. It also burnt fast... lol.
I've had mine over two years... It goes with me on every felling job/tree. It has mid 60cc power in a light 50cc package. Its felled quite a few decent sided cherries, ash and lots of downed stuff. There is no paint left on the bar these days... It was my go to climbing saw this summer the couple removals I did. I love it and highly recommend them to anyone wanting an awesome saw out of the box.
Stock no muffler mod I would take a 550 545 over a 346. Cant stand the muffler modded ones as they are so freaking loud on the 550 for some reason. Save 100 and get a 545 IMO and get all orange.

mine was muffler modded to my door for 400 or 425 with an 18"... bought it from a guy you probably know on AS. can't remember his name though. came from down south. he liked his modded 346 better. was basically new, less than 5 tanks thru it
when it was new I didn't like it... now it gives it character... like that old mutt that has scares from being in dog fights.. It says, been there done that, don't screw with me... lol
I cant stand the freaking silver. One of the worst ideas husky has had IMO. Some NE 346 could be had with all orange though.
Thanks for the info gang. Guess there could be something worse out there than the silver. Heading to town tomorrow and will be stopping into the Husky store.
Fantastic saw, but I'd probably get the 545 instead. They share the same cylinder, so besides the coil, crank stuffers & a few more small details they are the same saw.
