Well UPS Ground has decided to hold my new chains hostage for another weekend. So I made some calls to local dealers, and finally found one that had it in stock: Woodcutters HQ in Akron, NY.

It was a bit of a hike, but they had everything a boy could want!! Every Stihl and Husqvarna chainsaw in production (except the 661 :(), and all the goodies to go with them. Fiskars axes, 4-way hydro splitters with lift tables, log handling tools. They even sell firewood - log length, or split to your specification!

I barely escaped with my wallet in tact, and I returned home with almost the right chain - I wanted full chisel, and they gave me full skip. But it was the right size, so ill be able to play with it this weekend!!! :dancer:

The carb will need some tuning; at the very least the idler needs to be adjusted. But she sounds bad azz, and she cuts like it too! :dex:

You'll like that skip on bars over 24",gives you a bit more engine power/clears chips & noodles from long cuts better.

I was just reading a thread on AnotherSite (it's what came up when I googled my question... :emb:) about Stihl chains, but I think it gave me a better understanding of chain terminology now. I realize now that he actually gave me exactly what I asked for. He asked me if I wanted "skip", and I told him "full chisel". So I got skip with a "7" profile. And now I'm not completely sure what type of chain it was that I ordered from bailey's. Guess I'll should probably try out a few different cutter profiles anyway!

The only saws I know by number are stihl.. I didn't realize how big that saw is till I looked up the specs.. This situation is even more dangerous than I previously thought...

why is this so dangerous? Its heavier than an 046 and lighter than a 066 and CC in between. its not that huge... start worrying when he has a 3120 or 084/088
husky saws are easy to figure out... 372=3 generation 72cc this one is actually 71, but the 371xp was the old model... 385=3rd generation, 85cc. 262xp= 2nd generation, 62cc. 550xp= 5th generation 50cc. and the old, old models, are two digits, like 61, 55, 36, etc thats the cc, or really close like the 55 is really a 53.xcc. 4 digit huskys like 3120, is still 3 generation, 120cc.

Just a light hearted poke at Shawn. I really don't know all that much about saws but I know he upgraded big time.

Awesome saw.... and unfortunately youve learned a valuable lesson, don't buy anything from Baileys.

This is the first time I've ever ordered anything from them. Can't exactly blame them for the delay - they shipped them the same day I ordered them.

Unfortunately, they were travelling from CA to NY via UPS Ground. So UPS schedules the delivery for 5 business days, due to the distance. But they were going to fly it from CA to their hub in IL anyway (usually 1 day away from me), so they left it sit on the dock in CA for 3 days. In the meantime, Snowpocalypse 2014 hit Buffalo, so it sat in IL for 2 more days until they decided to reroute it to Syracuse in CNY. So it landed there Friday morning, but UPS Ground packages don't move on the weekend, so there it sits. :picard:

None of the dealers within 30 miles carry any big saws or parts - Stihl, Husqvarna, Echo, Lowes, none of em; that's why I mail ordered for them. But I felt like a kid in a candy store at that Woodcutters HQ.... :jaw::bug::drool: That place even smelled divine... Like chainsaw exhaust and wood chips. :D I'll just drive down there if I ever need anything in the future.

Baileys charges an arm and a leg for shipping.....at worst it should be fast and flawless.

There are much better choices online if you need parts etc.

Glad you found a good dealer !!!

baileys is good for when you don't need something... they have 9.99 shipping til the first of the year now. I also noticed they don't seem to have the deals they used to have....

Well I guess now I know... I was going to look for a place closer than CA anyway - anything from CA either costs a lot to ship, or takes a long time.

Where do you guys order from?

Keep us updated on how she runs for ya :)

This was a run before it left here.
The last cut hit a cut cookie.. Had it not been there? It would have been dirt ;)
But that shows how much you can lean on it. I couldn't stop it unless I dug the dawgs in..
