Ask a question, get an answer. If it's not the answer you like, tell the guy that answered that he's uninformed. Hmmmm.

No not all all, I asked for real experience with Chinese saws. A bunch of people jumped on and said they were no good. This board has a history of being more than a little xenophobic at times towards Asian goods
Even someone who has a product that has worked for him for three years is showing a negative bias.

So the question is why? Even when I requested no moral or ethical judgments or reviews, people with no experience felt the need to jump in with their negative spin, withouteven providing reasons. Then two guys who are saw techs express interest, and give some advice of things to watch/look out for, why do you think I'm dismissing the rest....:coffee:

Many people that dump on the xhineese saws have never run one. There no stihl but they have their place at a certain price point.

First off I dont have nor never run a stihl knockoff. But I do have one of my stihl wearing a Huztl aftermarket handle and plastic. While not as sturdy as the original its been working fine so far.

And I do own several earthquake saws. They are good quality for what they are. Once you get rid of the terrible cat muffler there really good! The 45cc has a carb issue after about a year but thats probably more a function of letting it sit? Maybe trash? But they have name brand carbs so that very same one could of ended up on anything. And if you dont believe me that they hold up go read the post on AS about them. Some have been running them for years many have ported them and still use them as a go to saw now. If it holds up to port work for a few years as a fairly regular used saw it can't be that bad.

From what I have read on the net in different locations, the quality of the parts is fine, it is the assembly that is sometimes suspect. I have had similar experiences both personally and professionally with South America, Asian, and at times Eastern European stuff, especially with 3rd shift goods.

3rd shift goods are goods manufactured by a company in China that manufacturers the original good for the original company( either interest US or Europe ) for the first 2 shifts, but then runs the assembly line for a 3rd shift and sells the results as copies, or under a different name. This is what I assume is going on with all of the "fakes " or copies of the big saw brands out there. at times they use the rejected parts from the first two shifts or they spec out less expensive options. Because this is about squeezing that last bit of profit from their investment. I don't look down upon it, the US did the same thing during the industrial Revolution

This is my confusion. Are you saying that it is unwise to purchase one of the Chinese copies? If so what is your reasoning? Check out the thread from last spring "chinese competition saw" where many members here bought these knockoffs and modded them to race at a GTG. All had good results.

    Why the negative attitude?

In that video that first saw has a very dull blade. The cut was making dust not chips. I was taught to watch the chip.

It was my understanding from the get-go that these really can't be purchased and used in the United States because of emmision regs......these knock-off don't meet the EPA standards here....

There are others at similar prices for lots of one, shipping is more though.
I'll look there as well, thanks

Any one who has modified the emissions system from what it was originally certified as, Legally speaking, is guilty of federal EPA violations for noise and/or pollution. The exhaust system is part of the emissions system, so porting your muffler makes you a criminal. So you may be correct.

    Yes, I did.
    Is this a threat?

I used your post as an example of a potential bias in this forum against chinese manufactured goods. I maybe wrong, you may have changed your opinion by now, but you did post it, and as such I cited it while illustrating a point I was attempting to make. Is this a problem for you?

Augie, do me a favor and get off of the high horse.....did hedgerow say "or else" in his post?

Honestly, can you make a single post without having confrontational and frictional conversation? Not just this post but others.....some quite personal in attacking other members....

Just an FYI for ya. I'm not going to let this go where it is heading......

You were wrong with your first assumption, and you are wrong on #2...
My observations of the 2 chinese honda clones have nothing to do with your 070 thread...
If you want to buy one, do it...

I'm the guy with an opinion different than many here. You don't know my intentions here, why would you assume that you do. Yes I expect you, others and myself to be consistent, if you say something then expect to be quoted. If Hedgerow stated in his original post 'chinese Honda clones' ok I would not have quoted it, but he said "chinese clones" that is attacking all chinese goods.

I know this is your joint, please take a step back and don't read any emotions into my posts. If using the quote feature to prove a point based on what others say is poor form then why have the quote ability at all? In this thread I asked for no personal editorial on the moral issues surrounding chinese manufactured goods. Others injected that into this thread. So you blame me?
